Saturday, April 2nd, finds the Brooklyn Nets facing the Atlanta Hawks for the third and final time this season. Brooklyn will be seeking the regular-season series sweep having won the previous meetings on November 3rd (117-108) and December 10th (113-105).
Both teams last played on Thursday with the Nets coming off a highly competitive but heartbreaking 119-120 overtime loss to the Bucks while the Hawks defeated the Cavaliers 131-107.
Last season the clubs played three times with the Nets taking two of the three contests. The Hawks hold the all-time record with 102 wins in 187 matches.
Brooklyn Nets
The Nets got a taste of what to expect from the defending champions who gutted out an overtime win despite losing Khris Middleton to a flagrant call which forced Giannis Antetokounmpo and Jrue Holiday to do more.
They were up to the challenge and the Nets had no answer for the Greek Freak.

Similarly, the Bucks were reminded of why Giannis calls Kevin Durant the best player in the NBA. KD registered a double-double of 26 points and 11 assists plus seven rebounds, a steal, and a block.
Running mate Kyrie Irving scored 25 but needed 22 shots to collect his points and between Durant and Irving turned the ball over nine times Although they added depth via the Harden trade the Nets are still short on depth.
Bruce Brown (wrist) was injured in the match versus the Bucks but is probable while Seth Curry (ankle) is questionable. Ben Simmons (back/conditioning) is out indefinitely. Joe Harris (ankle) is done for the season.
Atlanta Hawks
In contrast, the Hawks are overloaded with depth, so much so that part of the early season struggles was trying to find chemistry with so many players requiring touches.
Playmaking is another issue – – while Trae Young is an excellent playmaker it often feels like the one skill this talented team is in the greatest need of is playmaking and or those who can create their own shot.
That said, they are in a groove winning four in a row and nine of their last 12.
Trae Young injured his groin versus the Cavaliers but is probable as is Lou Williams (undisclosed) while Jalen Johnson (concussion) is out Saturday. John Collins (foot) remains out with no definitive return date.

Free Brooklyn Nets vs. Atlanta Hawks NBA Prediction:
Yet another weekend match with major seeding implications. Both teams sport identical 40-37 records (as do the Hornets) and while they’d prefer to be residing in the sixth seed free of the play-in tournament that’s unlikely to occur.
The Bulls and Raptors have a five-game edge and with only five games remaining so barring a miracle that’s not happening. Catching the seventh-seeded Cavaliers is more feasible as they are only up two games on the clubs.
Regardless, getting the seventh or eighth seed is essential because that affords those teams two opportunities to earn a playoff berth.
One thing is for sure this should be a high octane offensive display and the first team to commit to playing some defense will get the W.
