In what became an instant classic the Toronto Raptors and Boston Celtics battled into two overtime frames with the result going to the defending champs benefit and forcing a game seven to decide the series.s.
Brad Stevens managed this game with the goal of closing out the series. Each of his starters played between 47:26 and 51:40 minutes. His big three of Kemba Walker, Jayson Tatum, and Jaylen Brown all logged more than 50 minutes.
Of the big three Tatum had his struggles but did the most with his minutes never forcing his shot. He came one assist shy of a triple-double with 29 points, 14 rebounds, and nine assists.
Brown registered a massive double-double of 31 points and 16 rebounds but took 30 shots to get those points. Walker struggled scoring only five points along with seven assists.
The supporting staff excelled with Marcus Smart netting a triple-double of 23 points, 10 assists, and 11 rebounds while Theis scored 18 with the Raptors clearly electing to let Smart and Theis be the players they would concede more leeway to.
Four reserves got some run but only Brad Wanamaker logged double-digit minutes (18:31).
North of the border Kyle Lowry is tagged as the GOAT of the Raptors. His Game 6 performance punctuated why he’s so beloved by the Raptors fanbase.
In fact, if there is one player in the Association who embodies the character of their team it would be Kyle Lowry of the Raptors. No matter how many times his squad was counted out or fell behind he simply refused to let them lose.
Even his 33 points, six assists, eight rebounds, two steals, and block don’t do justice to how much he affected the win.
Like Stevens, Nick Nurse went with his core playing Lowry, Fred VanVleet, Pascal Siakam, and OG Anunoby all logged 50 or more minutes.
The difference in was Nurse used his reserves Norm Powell (23 points) and Serge Ibaka more than Stevens used his reserves.

Free Boston Celtics vs. Toronto Raptors NBA Prediction:
With both teams Big 3 logging heavy minutes one thing that could play a factor is Powell, Ibaka, and Gasol will be fresher and each can contribute.
At this stage, the teams knows each other inside and out, and yet using Anunoby at the five was a new development and Walker struggled against the Box and One defense.
I have one prevailing thought that simply won’t go away — Pascal Siakam hasn’t had a breakthrough offensive performance in the series yet. What if that happens in Game 7?
4* Free NBA Betting Pick: Bet the under
As far as experience the Celtics defeated the Bucks in round one and lost in the Conference Finals to the Cavaliers in 2016-17. Tatum, Brown, Smart and Theis were part of that roster.
The Raptors core have the dramatic win versus the 76ers last season to draw from while Kyle Lowry and Norm Powell have memories of 2015-16 when they collected Game 7 wins versus both the Pacers and Heat.
With so much fatigue it won’t be surprising if this is a low scoring defensive battle.
***NOTE*** In case you missed it…When the 2020 NBA 16-team playoff field is set, the NBA Playoffs will proceed in a traditional conference-based format with four rounds and best-of-seven series in each round. The 2020 NBA Finals will end no later than Oct. 13.
