Here is my Celtics Knicks free pick.
Excitement was high for the Knicks across the association at season start, as many pundits predicted they’d come out of the East this season.
As the season has progressed, however, there are huge question marks as the Knicks stumble into the postseason with concerns that they may not be gritty enough.
Per John Schuhmann: Last year, the Celtics became the first team since the NBA-ABA merger to rank in the top five on both ends of the floor in three straight seasons. And they’re in position to do it for a fourth straight, despite losing four guys from last year’s playoff rotation and missing Tatum for the first 62 games of the season.
To that end, this is an opportunity for the Knicks, not just to appease the critics but to keep their hopes alive to supplant the Celts in second.
A win would give them the tiebreaker, albeit the Celts would have to lose out for that to happen. Additionally, the Cavaliers are just a half-game back from New York, but the Knicks own the tiebreak.
That said, I’m rolling with the Celts to be the team sending a message, so I’ll take the points and Boston.
