Free Boston Celtics vs. New Orleans Pelicans NBA Prediction:
Sunday, January 26th, the Boston Celtics face the New Orleans Pelicans for the second and final time this season. In the initial meeting on January 11th, the Celtics won 140-105.
Last season, the teams played twice with the Celtics winning both contests. The Celtics hold the all-time record having bested the Pelicans in 20 of their 38 matches
Boston Celtics
Friday’s victory over the Magic was significant given the Celtics recent road struggles. During an eight-game stretch, they registered a 2-6 win-loss record losing all three road games.
This week, the Celtics bounced back with three consecutive wins including the road win in Orlando.

That win was even more significant given both Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown were out nursing injuries. In the victory newly-minted All-Star starter Kemba Walker led the way scoring 37 points.
Gordon Hayward stepped up registering a double-double of 22 points and 14 rebounds. Daniel Theis was the only other double-figure contributor with 16 points.
Kemba Walker is the team leader in scoring (22.1) and assists (5.0) while Jayson Tatum leads rebounding (6.9) and steals (1.4). Gordon Hayward tops field goal percent (50.7%), and Daniel Theis is the blocks (1.5) leader.
The Celtics limp into New Orleans with question marks regarding the availability of four key contributors. Marcus Smart is sporting a sprained right hand but expected to play.
Jaylen Brown missed the last two games with an ankle sprain while Jayson Tatum missed the match in Orlando with a groin strain. Both are questionable for Sunday.
Enes Kanter missed the last game with a hip contusion and won’t suit up for the match in New Orleans. Robert Williams III is suffering from bone edema, in his hip and won’t return until late February.
New Orleans Pelicans
Although Pelicans and NBA fans alike are relishing witnessing Zion Williamson on the hardwood and his jaw dropping skills through two games his team is winless.
After scoring 17 of his 22 points in three minutes in his debut Williamson followed this up with 15 points, on 7 of 9 shooting along with six rebounds and one huge block in just under 21 minutes of action on Friday.
In the loss to the shorthanded Nuggets, JJ Redick led the scoring efforts with 18 points. Josh Hart delivered a double-double of 15 points and 13 rebounds.
Brandon Ingram (13), Jrue Holiday (12) and E’Twaun Moore (10) all chipped in with double-figure scoring efforts.
On the season, Brandon Ingram leads the team in four stat categories including scoring (25.2), rebounds (6.5), field goal percent (46.8%) and steals (0.9). Lonzo Ball leads assists (6.4) and Jaxson Hayes tops the block (1.1) category.
Jrue Holiday is nursing a sore knee but expected to play Sunday.
Kenrich Williams is dealing with lower back soreness while Darius Miller continues to recover from a ruptured Achilles tendon. Neither will play in the game versus the Celtics.
NBA Betting Trends:
- The Celtics are 7-3 ATS in their last 10
- The Celtics are 6-4 in last 10 head to head
- Over Under is 5-5 in team’s last 10 head to head matchups
Free Boston Celtics vs. New Orleans Pelicans NBA Prediction:
With the win in Orlando, it moved the Celtics road record to 12-9. However, Boston is thin upfront and lacking length so if the Pelicans continue to provide balanced scoring and attack the paint there is a good chance this could be Zion’s first professional victory.
