Boston Celtics vs. Miami Heat Odds & Last 5
The Celtics have owned the Heat in recent years, taking last season’s series three games to one while they enter this match seeking the season sweep as they’re up 3-0.
Boston sits in second in the East with a 50-25 record. They trail the Pistons by four games and lead the Knicks by two games. Since returning from the break the Celtics are 15-6 with losses only to top teams, including the Thunder and Spurs.
Miami had been making moves upward with a seven-game winning streak, then flipped to the losing side, registering a 2-6 record since the streak. They sit in the ninth seed with a record of 40-36, in a virtual tie with the eighth-seeded Magic and a half game up on the Hornets.
Boston is favored to win by 5.5 points with an over/under of 228.5 points.

Boston Celtics vs. Miami Heat bottom line:
Both squads are ramping up their efforts during the stretch run, looking to position themselves in the highest seed possible.
Boston has a chance to catch the Pistons with Cunningham out, but it has the 18th most difficult closing schedule. The Celtics have seven games remaining, with three on the road and five contests against current playoff or play-in seeded squads.
Miami has the sixth-easiest remaining strength of schedule with six games left. They’ll play three more road games and face four teams currently in playoff or play-in seeds.

Celtics Heat Free Pick: Heat +5.5
Here is my Celtics Heat free pick.
The glass will be key in this matchup with the third-best (Heat) rebounding squad looking to exploit this advantage.
Miami was making a charge, but the five losses knocked them back down the ladder. Looking at the East, this is anyone’s game to finish in the fifth through 10th seeds, with only 2.5 games separating them.
Miami continues to lead the association in pace, and will try to capitalize on that asset to get up more shots. In contrast the Celtics run with the slowest pace, so whoever wins that battle will have the edge in this match.
A week or so ago, I would have easily bet on Miami, but Boston arrives having lost their last match and will be dialed in to get back in the win column.
Ultimately, I expect this contest to be competitive and take on a playoff-type atmosphere, so take the points.
