Despite missing their All-Star point guard, Kemba Walker the Celtics suffered no let down registering a victory over the Timberwolves.

That said there were two areas of concern to note. The first could simply be the All-Star Break hangover as the Bean Town crew seemingly forgot how to defend at their typically elite level.
The second more concerning note was news Walker had his knee drained and injected. The flippancy with which the report was delivered may be because it’s no big deal. But seriously, the fact the guard required the drainage and “some sort” of injection at all should be at least a little concerning. Right?
The Wolves won’t ever be accused of serving up quality defense so the win wasn’t that surprising or that the other bevy of talented wings delivered. This was the first of a four-game road trip with much stiffer competition to come.
Four starters scored 25 points or more with three also collecting double-doubles: Jayson Tatum (28 points, 11 rebounds.) Daniel Theis (25 points, 16 rebounds) and Marcus Smart (10 points, 10 assists). Gordon Hayward scored 29 points and Jaylen Brown added 25.
Team leaders in key categories are Kemba Walker for assists (5.0) Gordon Hayward for field goal percent (51.1%), and Daniel Theis for blocks (1.3). Jayson Tatum leads the other three categories including scoring (22.5), rebounding (7.0) and steals (1.4).
Walker’s return date following the procedure to drain his knee and an injection to offset the swelling and pain is uncertain. Robert Williams III (bone edema, hip) began practicing with the team and is expected back in action when the team returns to Boston.
Los Angeles Lakers
Anthony Davis had an early scare in the win over the Memphis Grizzlies Friday having to leave the court due to a bruised calf.
It wasn’t severe enough to warrant sitting so Davis returned to the court and delivered a double-double of 28 points, 13 rebounds along with 7 blocks. That the superstar did all this in 31 minutes is even more impressive.
LeBron James led the team in scoring with 32 points and dished seven assists. Avery Bradley (14) and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope (12) were the only other Lakers to register double-figures.
On the season Davis leads five key categories including points (26.7), rebounds (9.3), field goal percent (51.8%), blocks (2.5) and steals (1.6) while James is tops in assists (10.7).
Recently there was news DeMarcus Cousins might be returning to the court before season end but with the signing of Markieff Morris the Lakers released Cousins.
Davis is expected to play despite the sore calf.
