The combination of the Raptors’ win and the Bulls’ loss on Tuesday resulted in the teams shifting positions on the playoff ladder. Both teams have three games remaining.
Chicago has the harder opponents with the Celtics, Hornets, and Wolves on tap whereas the Raptors will play the 76ers, Rockets, and Knicks. In truth, it might not matter which of the elite teams they’ll play because of how poorly they’ve performed against the top group.
In fact, while Toronto has only one additional win because they performed well against the top four (9-5) they could finish as high as third and no lower than sixth. But the Bulls can only move up to fifth and then only if they get help.
Boston is the only team in that top group that Chicago has a victory against (1-1) since the Heat, Bucks, and 76ers all swept the Bulls (0-12). ]
Matt Thomas (leg) is questionable while Zach LaVine (knee) was downgraded to out Tuesday so will likely both be questionable or game-time decisions on Wednesday. Lonzo Ball (knee) remains out with no definitive return date.

Raptors head coach Nick Nurse said he plans to rest some of his core players which could help Chicago but presumably he would stagger who sits although OG Anunoby and Fred VanVleet likely get all three games off.
Both the Bulls and Toronto should desire a matchup versus the 76ers because of their lack of depth and James Harden still trying to adjust to fit in with his new squad.
Since these teams could be first-round opponents they have to navigate the tightrope of gaining the psychological edge of winning their last meeting and not showing too many cards in case they do meet.
Boston needs to game plan on limiting Joel Embiid while the 76ers need to figure out how to avoid long offensive draughts when their reserves sub in.
