This will be the final game of a really tough West Coast trip for the Hawks, who are shorthanded.
Like a lot of teams, they are playing in L.A. on back to back nights and this season that is especially tough.
This one seems like it will be way beyond its grasp and could get pretty ugly.
Atlanta Hawks
You can sort of see Atlanta as being the team of the future, but at the same time you wonder are they ever going to really get there.
Right now John Collins is out due to suspension. It is a share because he is their most consistent player.

Trae Young is having a really strong second season. His numbers are up across the board. As he gets more efficients he becomes even more dangerous.
That future relies on other young players eventually finding their game. So far they are not getting much from the rookies.
DeAndre Hunter and Cam Reddish were both lottery picks but so far it is clear they are not NBA ready. There has to be even more concern about Reddish because his lone season at Duke was not great either.
Hunter is almost averaging 10ppg but shooting percentages under 40% are hard to play with no matter how instinctive your defense is.
Getting Collins back is the first step but we are not there yet. Winning undermanned in LA is tough.
Los Angeles Lakers
The Lakers only have a couple of losses on the season so things are pretty good.

Bringing in Anthony Davis was definitely a wise move. He has played well and that has revitalized LeBron James as well. It is hard to see who is the better MVP candidate so far.
Also key has been the contributions of guys like Danny Green and even Dwight Howard. Green is helping to space the floor and Howard is giving them some big time defense while allowing Davis to spend more time at the four. The metrics show these investments are really paying off.
Kyle Kuzma is back and they are still figuring out how to integrate him. If they can figure that out this team would be even more dangerous. He gives them more length and scoring.
