Free Atlanta Hawks vs. Dallas Mavericks NBA Prediction:
Saturday, February 1st, the Atlanta Hawks play the Dallas Mavericks for the first time this season. The Mavericks enter on the second night of a back-to-back set having played the Houston Rockets on Friday.
Last season, the teams played twice and split the matches. The Hawks hold the all-time record having bested the Mavericks in 43 of their 76 matches
Atlanta Hawks
With only 13 wins on the season the fact the Hawks have won five of their last nine matches points to an overall improvement by the Hawks.
More impressive is who the wins were against. Sure the Wizards are in the group but wins versus the Suns, Spurs, Clippers, and 76ers feature two elite teams and two others vying for the eighth seed in the West and have also been playing better lately.

Trae Young is also having a great run including getting voted in as an All-Star starter, selected to play in Friday Rising Stars game as well as tapped to participate in the Skills Challenge and the 3-point shooting contest on Saturday Night.
Presumably, he’ll pass on the Friday night match given the numerous rookies and sophomores who missed the cut for Team U.S.
As for on the hardwood through the past four games, Young averaged 32 points and 15.3 assists. In the victory over the 76ers he produced an insane double-double of 38 points and a career-high 18 assists.
John Collins also registered a double-double of 17 points and 20 rebounds. The quintet of De’Andre Hunter (15), Damian Jones (14), Vince Carter (14), Cam Reddish (12) and Kevin Huerter (12) produced double-figure scoring efforts.
Young leads the team in points (29.4) and assists (9.2) while John Collins is tops for rebounding (10.2), and blocks (1.8). Damian Jones is tops for field goal percentage (69.1) and DeAndre’ Bembry for steals (1.3).
Several Hawks enter the match on the injured list De’Andre Hunter (ankle) and Bruno Fernando (calf) who missed the last two games are both questionable for this match.
Alex Len (hip) and Jabari Parker shoulder are both out until mid-February. DeAndre’ Bembry (hand) is out indefinitely.
Evan Turner (hamstring) is out indefinitely. Chandler Parsons (upper body) is done for the season.
Dallas Mavericks
It’s been a topsy-turvy week for the Dallas Mavericks who easily defeated the Oklahoma City Thunder 107-97 but then got routed 133-104 by the visiting Phoenix Suns.
However, the more concerning news is superstar Luka Doncic will miss the next six games after re-aggravating the ankle which kept him out four games earlier this season.
Only three Mavericks registered double-figure scoring versus Phoenix including Luka Doncic (21), as well as JJ Barea and Jalen Brunson with 15 apiece.
Luka Doncic leads the Mavericks in four stat categories including points (28.8), assists (8.7), rebounds (9.5) and field goal percent (46.4%). Delon Wright leads for steals (1.2) while Kristaps Porzingis is tops for blocks (2.0).
Doncic is out. Tim Hardaway Jr is dealing with lower back tightness but suited up in Houston. Dwight Power tore his Achilles tendon and will be lost for the season.
