2018-2019 NBA Previews – Wizards Odds
Looking for 2018 Washington Wizards Predictions? We’ve got your back. Washington finished last season 43-39, finishing eighth in the NBA’s Eastern Conference. Quite frankly, it was a massive disappointment of a year watching John Wall deal with injuries and the team at large underachieve after being considered by many as a squad that could compete for homeport advantage in the playoffs.

In 2018-19, the Wizards will (theoretically) have a healthy John Wall and the presence of Dwight Howard. No, Howard isn’t the perennial All-Star he was earlier in his career, but when engaged (and when not destroying locker rooms), he can still be a positive presence on the court.
Washington Wizards Strengths:
The Washington Wizards go as their backcourt goes. The guard tandem of John Wall and Bradley Beal is bested by only a small handful of backcourts across the league, and it’s easy to see why this team can contend out East when both are clicking.

The Wizards also had an underrated summer in terms of getting these guys some help. The Howard acquisition was met with criticism and humor on the Interwebs, but the guy is still a rebounding machine and can defend the rim in certain situations. Jeff Green and Austin Rivers will give this group extra scoring off the bench. Troy Brown Jr. was the team’s 15th overall pick and has a chance to be a good multi-dimensional contributor in his first season.
Last season, Washington wasn’t able to claim elite status on either end of the court, but it did manage to land a spot in the top half of the league in both offensive and defensive efficiency.
Sure, “top half” really just meant 14th for this group, but it’s still worth noting that they were rarely exploited on either end of the floor.
Washington Wizards Weaknesses:
Everything we just talked about is a strength for this program. But each of those things also come with question marks.
For starters, as much of a contributor as Howard can be at the rim, he can also be disengaged and has been known to break up locker rooms. Austin Rivers and Jeff Green have never been known as consistent of highly efficient scorers. Troy Brown Jr. is as much a mystery as any other rookie despite showing promise.
Even Wall’s health has to be looked at with a bit of skepticism until he proves he can stay on the court.

Simply put: This team has a number of question marks.
It’s going to be very difficult to predict this team’s outcome considering they have a relatively high ceiling and a cellar-low floor.

Washington Wizards Betting Prediction:
Las Vegas has set the over/under wins projection for the Wizards at 44.5. Although this isn’t necessarily an easy over, we’re taking the over anyway assuming Wall stays mostly healthy.
Overall, the Wizards should have a deeper pool of talent to work with, and it certainly doesn’t hurt that LeBron James has moved out West, making at least the games against the Cavs easier wins than last season.
Look for the Wiz to exceed the 44.5 projection, even if it’s not by much when the 2018-19 regular season comes to a close in April.
