The Nationals will be taking on the Giants in game 2 of their series on Saturday afternoon.
Joan Adon is going up against Logan Webb here.
Washington did surprise some people in game 1 as they won pretty handily.
Washington Nationals
It has been a rough beginning to the season for the Nationals. That really does not come as that big of a shock, though.
It is weird to think that this team won a world series just in 2019. They are nowhere near the same team now.
Unless they go out there and really improve their team, the Nats will be a bottom team in baseball for a while to come. They might have some talent on their roster and in the system but the future does not look all that bright for them.
Clearly, they have one of the better players in baseball in Juan Soto but he is not enough to get the job done on his own. If this team keeps on playing the way they have, there is no guarantee that he won’t bolt once he becomes a free agent.
The reason why these guys have not been all that great for a bit now is not that hard to figure out. They just do not have enough talent on their roster to be competitive on a day in, day out basis.
Before this series with the Giants, Washington got swept in a three-game set against the Marlins. All of the games were pretty close but they just were not able to get the job done in any of them which is not very surprising.
San Francisco just played the Nationals a little bit ago and swept them. Unless things go really different, there is a very good chance the same thing happens again when they face off this weekend.
Joan Adon will get the start in the second game of the series and he is going to have his hands full with this lineup. He has not started this season well at all as he is 1-3 with an ERA of 6.98.
San Francisco Giants
Unlike their opponent, the Giants have gotten off to a very strong start. They will once again be a dangerous team in the NL and baseball in general.
They may not get as much attention as a team like the Padres or the Dodgers but this team is no joke and it is very possible they could win the West again.
As you look at their roster, it is hard to find all that many holes in it. Their pitching is strong to go along with a solid lineup and good manager.
Yes, the NL is very strong but I feel this team is competitive against anyone in it and that also applies to the postseason.
This series with the Nationals is really one they need to be able to take advantage of. When you are facing one of the worst teams in baseball, there is only one thing you should do.
If they are on their game, they should be able to have similar results against the Nats as they did a little bit ago. This is what I would call a get-right series for them.
Logan Webb will get the start in this one and he will look to keep his team on the right track. Whenever a team has one of the better pitchers in baseball going, they should feel good about their chances.
MLB Baseball Betting Trends:
- The Nationals are 18-38 in their last 56 games on Saturday.
- The Nationals are 9-23 in their last 32 during game 2 of a series.
- The Giants are 4-1 in their last 5 games vs. NL East.
- The Giants are 42-12 in their last 54 games as the favorite.
Washington Nationals vs. San Francisco Giants MLB Prediction:
After a bad performance by the Giants in the first game of this series, they will have to better and I feel they will be.
San Francisco is still the better team and I would not expect the Nats to have similar results in this one as they did on Friday.
Logan Webb has been good so far this season and I see that continuing on Saturday.
I expect a bounce back effort the Giants and like them laying the run line at home.
