MLB Baseball Gambling Total: O/U: 9
The Blue Jays and Royals will be wrapping up their series on Wednesday afternoon from Kauffman Stadium.
Yusei Kikuchi and Brady Singer are the slated starters in this one.
Toronto is a good size favorite on the road in this one. The total began at 8 and is now up to 9.
Toronto Blue Jays
The Blue Jays continue to play well and they are starting to look like the team people thought they would be.
They did start off the season with a lot of up-and-down play but the consistency is finally there for them and that is something they will need to continue as the season goes on.
During the span in which they have looked a lot better, it is fair to say they have been one of the more impressive teams in the sport. Based on how they look now, they look like a true threat in the AL.
The fact that they have turned it around is really no surprise. Everybody knew how talented they were and if they played up to their potential, it would result in what we are seeing now.
Even with the strong play for Toronto, they still find themselves 7 games behind the Yankees, who have had a magical season. Also, this squad cannot forget about the Rays, who are just a game behind them.
Heading into this series with the Royals, the Jays knew it was a very good opportunity for them to take advantage of a weaker opponent and they have done just that. It is hard to argue with them when they have scored a combined 15 runs and have allowed 0.
Alek Manoah kept up his strong pitching in the win on Tuesday, as he went 6 innings and did not allow an earned run. Whenever he takes the mound, the expectation is that he going to deliver a strong outing and he has lived up to that.
Yusei Kikuchi will be getting the ball in the final game and he has seen mixed results but has been better of late. He comes into the game with a 2-2 record and an ERA of 3.91.
Kansas City Royals
The struggles for the Royals continue to be put on display pretty much on a daily basis. There are not a whole lot of good things happening with them right about now.
There are certain teams this season that have not played well and folks are shocked. With this team, that is not the case at all because it was understood they were going to have a bad season.
If you just look at their roster, it makes sense that they do not win a lot. The talent level is simply not there consistently in key areas, which leads to what we are seeing now.
The front office clearly knows the issues of this team but there is no guarantee they will do much about it. If you look at their moves or really, lack of moves over the past many years, it is evident that winning is not their top priority.
To me, Kansas City needs help in every part of the game. The pitching is not deep enough, the offense is average at best, and I really think it is time for a new manager in there. It seems as if his message is getting old at this point.
If the Royals can fix some of these key issues, then it is possible they have some hope. If not, expect them to be a bottom feeder for years to come.
In the loss in game 2, Brad Keller went 6 innings and allowed 3 earned runs, which is a good outing against that kind of offense. When he left, the bullpen did not do its job at all and allowed an additional 4 runs.
Brady Singer will be getting the ball in the finale and he will have his hands full here. He certainly has the stuff to keep a tough lineup in check but he has not shown that enough this year.
MLB Baseball Betting Trends:
- The Blue Jays are 5-0 in their last 5 road games vs. a right-handed starter.
- The Blue Jays are 22-7 in their last 29 games vs. a team with a winning % below .400.
- The Royals are 32-76 in their last 108 games vs. the AL East.
- The Royals are 15-37 in their last 52 games on grass.
Toronto Blue Jays vs. Kansas City Royals MLB Prediction:
The Blue Jays have done just what they wanted to do in the first two games and I see that continuing in the last game.
Offensively, things have been strong for Toronto in the series and so has the pitching. I look for Kikuchi to deliver a strong outing and for the Jays to get to Singer and into that pen.
Kansas City might not get shut out here but I still have a hard time seeing them be all that competitive.
I like the Blue Jays laying the runs in this one.
