Texas Rangers
After seven years with St. Louis to begin his career, Lance Lynn is playing for his third different club since moving to the American League ahead of the 2018 regular season.
He pitched for both Minnesota and New York last year and signed with Texas in the offseason. He signed for three years at $10 million per season.

That’s a lot of money to shell out for a guy who appears to have seen his best days already, especially in today’s free agent market.
Lynn got lit up in his debut against the Cubs on Sunday, giving up 10 hits and seven runs in five innings. He’s a power pitcher, though, and will probably need it to warm up a bit before he finds his groove, even if he is pitching in Texas, and Los Angeles on Friday.
Los Angeles Angels
This will be a four-game series that begins on Thursday after the Angels’ day off on Wednesday. It’s the Angels’ home opener after six games on the road to start the season that didn’t go well at all.

Mike Trout has a 171 OPS+ but he’s the only one hitting. The Angels are hitting .178 as a team with an OPS+ of 45. Trevor Cahill and Matt Harvey are off to good enough starts, three outings between them, to begin the year at the top of the rotation but the final three in the rotation all struggled the first time through.
The bullpen doesn’t look strong, either. The Angels are always a pick a certain percentage of the public wants to make in the futures market before the season begins but I really anticipate struggles for the Trouts this season.
