The Rangers will be meeting up with the Angels for the last game of their series on Sunday afternoon.
Dune Dunning will be matched up against Reid Detmters in this contest.
At the time, the Halos are a short favorite at home with a total of 8.5.
Texas Rangers
The Rangers were able to pick up two wins in the first two games of this series but could not get the job done on Saturday with a 9-7 loss.
Saturday was definitely a frustrating loss for them because they had chances to win this ball game but eventually came up short.
The offense clearly was not the issue in this one, but the pitching did not perform at the level they needed in order to get the victory.
Starter Glenn Otto went five innings while allowing four earned runs in the game on Saturday. Although it was not all bad for him, the struggles continue for him, and being able to get into the win continues to be quite difficult.
After he departed, the bullpen did not do its job and that started with Dennis Santana who went 0.1 innings and allowed 3 earned runs. The struggles for Brett Martin kept up as he went 0.2 innings and allowed 2 earned runs.
Marcus Semien led the way with three hits and three RBI in the loss. There were also plenty of other contributors on the offense, but it was not enough.
The lack of pitching has cost this Rangers team many times this season and it just has continued to expose a weakness on this roster. Even with an improved offense, they still have not been able to be all that productive on the other side field.
Getting the ball in the finale is Dane Dunning and I do feel he has been better than the record of 1-6, but he still has a lot of work to do if he wants to improve some of his numbers for the rest of the season. He has pitched well at times, but it has not happened with enough frequency.
LA Angels
The Angels were able to pick up a much-needed win on Saturday after they dropped the first two games of the series to their divisional rival.
Even when this team does pick up a victory, it is hard to feel that confident they will translate any of that into their next contest. It has just been one of those seasons for them.
Similar to the Rangers, the pitching was not great for these guys even though they did ultimately get the job done on Saturday.
Chase Silseth started the game and went four innings while allowing five hits and five earned runs. In addition to him getting hit hard, his command was all over the place as he recorded four walks.
Touki Touissant went 4 innings in relief while allowing 2 earned runs and also got the win in his debut with the team. I am not saying I thought he would do awful, but I did not expect him to have those results in this game.
Los Angeles trailed 7-4 going into the 8th inning, but they were able to rally and score five runs in the inning which ended up being enough to get the job done.
Shohei Ohtani kept up his great season as hit his 22nd bomb of the year and picked up three RBI on the day. Also, David Fletcher and Luis Rengifo picked up two RBI in the win.
Reid Detmers will be on the hill Sunday and he has been solid so far. He is coming off a strong start against the Braves and he will look to get his record over the .500 mark.
MLB Baseball Betting Trends:
- The Rangers are 5-2 in their last 7 games vs. a team with a winning record.
- The Rangers are 7-3 in their last 10 road games vs. a left-handed starter.
- The Angels are 8-17 in their last 25 games vs. a starter with a WHIP greater than 1.30.
- The Angels are 16-41 in their last 57 games.
Texas Rangers vs. LA Angels MLB Prediction:
The Rangers were unable to get it done on Saturday, but I can see them getting back on track and getting the series win on Sunday.
LA was able to rally back in the third game, but I do not see them keeping up the good play in this one. They might have the starting pitcher advantage, but I still view Texas as the better and more complete team.
Dunning does not have to be great here, but if he can at least be effective, I like his team to win a close one on the road.
Give me the Rangers at even money here.
