Tampa Bay Rays
These teams are really neck and neck this season. I know I should not be surprised with Tampa’s ability to compete but I still am.
That is because their lineup look so ordinary or even below on the surface. Who do you have to fear? Brandon Lowe leads the team with eight homers but he is hardly imposing and Austin Meadow has one mostly good season under his belt.
Ty Glasnow is going on Wednesday and last time he was followed by Trevor Richards. The Rays are pretty good with reclamation projects and he had some good initial success with Tampa last season. He has only made one start for the Rays this season.
Tampa has a deep and underrated bullpen so they don’t need a ton from Richards. If they can get him five that could be enough.
New York Yankees
Once again New York is experiencing some injuries to their offense and it might hurt a while. They are already without Giancarlo Stanton, Aaron Judge is probably not available til the weekend and now D.J. Lemahieu is going to miss a few weeks.
Those absences are going to put some pressure on a couple of guys who have not been performing this season, Gleyber Torres and Gary Sanchez.
James Paxton knows how to miss bats, its putting it all together so that talent actually leads to wins which has been the challenge. He has only one win on the season and has been inconsistent.
