Tampa Bay Rays
Tampa starts the week just a half game back of the Yankees so this is a big series. Tampa is in alright form having taken the series from the Angels over the weekend. Tommy Pham and Brandon Lowe both hit homers yesterday. This team is great at making contact but they need more pop if they are going to hang with the big hitters like the Yankees.

It has not been announced but I think this is the spot of Yonny Chirinos. He has made four straight starts now and is second on the team in wins. He is giving up too many homers but not a lot of hits. His strikeout rate is not the best but he trusts his defense. I am not sure Yankee Stadium is the best spot for him though. Fade candidate definitely.
New York Yankees
The Yankees have been struggling with injuries all season long, primarily to their sluggers. Well they just made a move that will hopefully offset some of that power loss, acquiring Edwin Encarnacion from the Mariners. This is expected to be his first game with his new team. It is also possible that Aaron Judge is in the lineup and Giancarlo Stanton later in the week. Things are looking up for the Yankees right now.

He has not pitched terribly but Masahiro Tanaka actually has a losing record with the Yankees this season. He has faced the Rays twice this season and given up just one run over 13 innings – it was a homer to Austin Meadows. New York is great at shortening up the game even though Dellin Betances is on the shelf. They have about 4 closers they can throw at you in any order.
