Tampa Bay Rays

The Rays head into Friday action at .500. It is actually a heck of an accomplishment but I doubt they build on it. One weird thing about the Rays is that they seem to really get up for playing the good team, the lesser squads not so much. That doesn’t mean they are going to flame out in Queens but this team is sporadic to say the least.

Blake Snell is definitely realizing the potential many saw in him prior to this season. The lanky lefty is looking more and more like Chris Sale out there.  He has given up just 2ER in his last three starts and has 10 strikeouts in his last two outings.

New York Mets

The Mets might not be in last place but they have fewer wins than the Marlins. They have key injuries all over the diamond to the point of looking to Jose Bautista to give the lineup some punch.  He actually has too because he knows the difference between a ball and a strike. They will be tearing this group apart soon.

Steven Matz has been good this season, looking a lot like he did when he was a key contributor in 2016.  He has weird splits though and has struggled at Citi Field this season.  Still this might be a good matchup for him.
