Tampa Bay Rays
Tampa Bay beat Boston by a run on Monday and more than that on Tuesday. Depending what happens Wednesday, this could be to complete a four-game sweep.
You could say Tyler Glasnow has struggled so far this season. He’s 0–1 in three starts with nine hits and seven runs allowed in just over 11 innings. He has struck out 19 but walked eight too.
But he has given up a home run in each start that in more than one case unravelled what had been a decent performance to that point.
After such an impressive start last season before getting hurt, it isn’t surprising things haven’t started quite so fast for Glasnow in 2020.
That doesn’t necessarily change his long-term outlook, which is rather bright.
Boston Red Sox
Andrew Benintendi came into Tuesday’s game with two hits in 36 at-bats (.053).
He went two-for-three on the night to get his batting average back into the triple-digits.
Benny’s struggles at the top of the order have been just one of a number of major flaws for the Red Sox.
The pitching has been the most obvious and now Boston turns to 27-year-old Kyle Hart to make his Major League debut.
Hart probably wouldn’t make most pitching staffs around MLB but in the Red Sox’ case, they are desperate.
Rafael Devers also missed Tuesday’s game with a balky ankle. He expects to be back in the lineup by this time but it’s an injury worth watching because of the impact he can have on any single game.
