Tampa Bay Rays
Tyler Glasnow came over in that trade last summer for Chris Archer that included Austin Meadows, too. It’s still just April but it looks like both Meadows and Glasnow are on the verge of already becoming all-stars with Tampa Bay.
The tall righty had control problems with the Pirates and, I think, some confidence issues. Some of it carried over at the tail end of last season but he looked improved and has totally looked in command to begin 2019.

Glasnow is 4–0 with a league-leading 1.53 ERA. He strikes out 8.9 per nine, which is down from last season’s 11 but his walks are down even more significantly, from 4.3 last season to 1.8 this year.
The arsenal is straight-forward. He’s got a heater and a big bender. He may mix a changeup in there but the curveball is his out-pitch.
Boston Red Sox
David Price was originally slated to start Friday’s opener but Alex Cora has pushed him back to start on Saturday instead. The extra day of rest should only help him, both long and short-term.
David Price is 5–4 with a 3.28 ERA in just over ninety career innings against his former team, the team that drafted him first overall in 2007 out of Vanderbilt.
He didn’t get the win in his last start, also against the Rays. He went five innings, gave up two runs, struck out ten and hit one-hundred pitches for the first time this season. Ever since giving up three home runs in his first start against Oakland, Price hasn’t allowed one to leave the park.

After finishing up a four-game series vs. Detroit on Thursday with a split, the Sox host the Rays for three and the Athletics for two before hitting the road once again.
