St. Louis Cardinals

The Cardinals are going to have a tough month coming up. After losing two of three to the Cubs over the weekend they are going to be playing teams that are competing for the playoffs for the next few weeks. It is still a couple of more weeks until they get shortstop Paul deJong back too.

Luke Weaver is just plugging along for the Cardinals. He has been neither great nor terrible but his splits show some slippage on the road. Nothing you have to completely get away from but just something to be aware of. The Cardinals bullpen has not been very strong this season.

Philadelphia Phillies

Even though the Nationals picked it up and the Braves are playing great the Phillies are still in this thing and I think they can stay in it. Rhys Hoskins is starting to flash the kind of power he did during his exciting rookie season, which is a great development. They still need more offense though.

Vince Velasquez might pull up the rear in terms of ERA among Phillies starters but his swing and miss stuff always makes him an appealing option for me. When he is favoured, and I think he will be in this one he has delivered a small profit this season.
