St. Louis Cardinals
Overall, it has been a pretty good start for the Cardinals in 2022. I have liked the way they have played and that will likely continue as the year goes on.
I would not say they have done anything that has jumped out but they have just played steady baseball. It is not about being flashy but rather about putting out a good product.
This is a team that does have some good players but they are certainly not the most talented team in the NL. I feel that could get them to a certain point but it will eventually catch up to them.
St. Louis currently has a record of 20-16 and they are in 2nd place in the NL Central. The Brewers lead them by 3 games at the moment with a record of 24-16.
Unless things seriously change, it is going to be them and Milwaukee battling it out for the first spot in that division. I would give the edge to the Brew Crew for now but that could certainly change later on.
The Cardinals split the doubleheader with the Mets yesterday and they are currently losing by a score of 4-2 in the 5th inning. The offense has not been very much for St. Louis so far in this series which they hope will change in this one.
Jordan Hicks started the game on Wednesday and went 4 innings and allowed 2 earned runs. Right now, the game is in the hands of the bullpen.
Dakota Hudson will be on the bump for this one and he has been impressive so far. He comes into this start with a record of 3-2 and an ERA of 3.06.
New York Mets
It has been a very impressive start to the season for the Mets. It is hard to deny that statement based on how they have looked so far.
The strong start of this team really does not come as that big of a surprise. They went out there and get a lot better in the offseason and were expected to be one of the best teams in the NL.
Yes, they did lose the series to the Mariners over the weekend, but New York had been a machine when it comes to winning the series. It seems so simple but you will be in very good shape if you can consistently win the series you are in.
Something that is noticeably different with this group in 2022 is they are far better and more consistent on offense. A big issue for them a year ago was the inability to score consistent runs and that has really not been repeated this year.
I have also been quite impressed with their starting pitching. The fact that the best pitcher in baseball has not played a game yet this year and they have still looked that good is a very good sign for this club.
For as good as the rotation has been, I have not totally loved their bullpen. I would not consider that a strength of theirs and it is something they will have to improve in order to make a deep run in the postseason.
Max Scherzer got the start for game 3 of this series and he is currently still in there. Thus far, he has gone 5 innings and allowed just 1 earned run.
Chris Bassitt will be starting the finale and boy, what a pickup this guy has been. It is good that he can display what kind of a pitcher he is in an actual big market baseball city where the fans pay attention and care.
MLB Baseball Betting Trends:

- The Mets are 8-3 in their last 11 games vs. a team with a winning record.
St. Louis Cardinals vs. New York Mets MLB Prediction:
This is a game that features two good teams and two talented pitchers. I feel it will be a close one when all is said and done.
To me, runs will be at a premium here. Based on the two starters, I just do not see it shaping out to be a high-scoring affair.
It would not shock me if the Mets figure things out here but the Cards keep it close.
I like the under of 7.5 here.
