MLB Baseball Gambling Total: O/U: 7
The Mariners will begin a series with the Rays at the Trop on Tuesday, April 26th.
Logan Gilbert and Matt Wisler are your starting pitchers in this one.
The total in this game opened at 7 and really has not moved a whole lot.
Seattle Mariners
The Mariners have played a good brand of baseball this year. They will look to put it all together this season.
Even though they did not ultimately make the playoffs a year ago, their season was not a total failure. They showed they can be better than the average team in a very tough AL and it is certainly reasonable they can compete for their division.
For a while now, the AL West has been owned by the Astros but I think this team might have something to say about that. It is early but they feel like it is theirs to win in 2022.
Seattle comes into this game with a record of 10-6. They lead the 2nd place Angels by half a game. Needless to say, it is going to be a very competitive division once again this season.
The M’s completed the sweep of the Kansas City Royals over the weekend. They did just what they had to against a team that is not on the same level as them.
Game 1 and Game 3 of that series were pretty close but the offense absolutely exploded for them in Game 2 as they beat the Royals by a score of 13-7.
In the finale of that series, Robbie Ray tossed 6 innings and allowed 2 earned runs. He has done just what you could ask out of him since he has become a Mariner.
Logan Gilbert will get the start on Tuesday evening and the Mariners should feel very good with their chances with him on the hill. So far, he is 2-0 with an ERA of 0.54.
Tampa Bay Rays
For me, the best way to describe what the Rays have done so far is solid. They really have not done a whole lot that is spectacular but they have shown glimpses of being what we know they can be.
In an AL East that is loaded with firepower, they are not the most talented team but that does not seem to concern them. Even a year ago when they won the division, you could make the case there were other teams that had better players but Tampa still finished better.
With the group they have in their lineup on a nightly basis, I really do not feel scoring runs will be an issue for them. It would not surprise me if they are among the top teams in that department.
Their pitching, though, is a different story. They do have some talented arms in their rotation and pen but I am not sure how reliable these guys are once the season gets deeper. Can you really trust Corey Kluber? Will the bullpen eventually get worn down if they get overused like in 2020?
These are all questions that Kevin Cash and the whole organization have to figure out. I would say they will be in the mix come postseason time but making a true deep run is going to be a very tall order for this group.
After losing a close one on Friday, Tampa came back and beat the Red Sox the next two days. No matter how early it is, having success against a divisional rival is a big deal.
Shane McClanahan looked a little rocky at first on Sunday, but he turned things around and delivered a very strong performance against a tough lineup. The lefty ended up going 7 innings while only allowing 2 earned runs and punching out 7 hitters.
The Rays will opt for the opener method on Tuesday when Matt Wisler starts it off. There is no official word on how long he goes but we know it will not be all that long.
MLB Baseball Betting Trends:
- The Mariners are 4-0 in their last 4 games when scoring 5 runs or more in the previous game.
- The Mariners are 6-1 in their last 7 games overall.
- The Rays are 8-2 in their last 10 Tuesday games.
- The Rays are 9-4 in their last 13 games following an off day.
Seattle Mariners vs. Tampa Bay Rays MLB Prediction:
Both Seattle and Tampa will look to keep up their good play and it would not shock me if the offenses have some success on Tuesday.
Look, I am not saying this is going to be a total slugfest here but I think both teams are capable of scoring a decent amount here.
Logan Gilbert is clearly a very talented arm and we all know what the Rays bullpen is but this total is a little too low for me. I am not always opposed to an under when I see it at 7 but in this spot, I am.
Give me the over here.
