Seattle Mariners
The Mariners lost their sixth game in a row on Saturday night in Cleveland, 5–4. Seattle took a brief lead in the top of the eighth with a run to break a 3–3 tie but the Indians responded with two in the bottom half before Brand Hand preserved things in the ninth.

Felix Hernandez is doing the best he can to remain a productive big league starting pitcher at age thirty-three with nearly 2700 innings on his right arm.
He has given up more than ten hits per nine innings in his six starts of 2019 but the home run rate is good, as is the walk rate. The 8.3 strikeouts per nine innings is, so far, an improvement over last season and his highest mark since 2015, the last season he was an All-Star.
New York Yankees
The Yankees welcomed back Miguel Andujar on Saturday but fell to the Twins, 7–3, to set up a rubber match on Sunday.
Andujar went 1-for-3 with a walk hitting cleanup, behind Gary Sanchez. JA Happ didn’t get any run support while he was in the game but was out-pitched by Jake Odorizzi anyway.

Sanchez continued his super hot start. He homered for the eleventh time in nineteen games this season, which has him tied with Joey Gallo for the American League lead despite having missed nearly forty percent of the season’s games. He finished Saturday 1-for-2 with a pair of walks.
The Yankees sure would love it if he could make the walks more of a permanent thing. Going into the game, he had walked just five times, which is far too low for a hitter as fearsome as Sanchez.
