Drew Pomeranz would have made a lot more money in free agency had he reversed his two full seasons in Boston.
He was stellar in 2017, winning 17 games and pitching to a 137 ERA+ in over 170 innings. Injuries and poor performance in 2018 gave him little leverage in the free market and San Francisco won out with a one-year deal for $1.5 million.

When he’s healthy, he has a sharp breaking ball and decent fastball velocity from the left side. You can understand why the Giants jumped at the chance to get some potentially nice help in the rotation for cheap.
He didn’t pitch in the postseason for Boston, so this will be his first time on a big league mound in a while.
