San Diego has been a nice early surprise. If the Dodgers truly are vulnerable they look like the team that could push them.
San Francisco has been better than expected, they are .500 heading into Tuesday evening. If they can keep up that pace I will be surprised.
San Diego Padres
The Padres are looking very good early. Mostly it is thanks to a pitching staff that save Joey Lucchesi has been really good.
Fernando Tatis’ season was cut short last year but so far he is showing no rust, leading the team in hitting. Eric Hosmer has been hot too.
It hasn’t been announced yet but I think we are getting opening day started Chris Paddack in this one. He was sharp and this is a favourable matchup.
San Francisco Giants
The Giants might not have looked terrible against the Dodgers to start the season but there is no reason to get excited just yet.
Maybe the best thing you can say about the Giants is that they are kind of doing it with smoke and mirrors. Evan Longoria and Brandon Belt, their two corner bats are not even playing.
Johnny Cueto did not go long in his first start but he looked pretty good. The Padres are playing well but their lineup is not loaded.
