MLB Baseball Gambling Total: O/U: 7.5
Two NL West teams will be colliding on Wednesday when the Giants host the Padres.
The pitching matchup sees Sean Manaea going up against Logan Webb.
To start off, the total was listed at 7 and that has now ticked up to 7.5.
San Diego Padres
The Padres are really hoping that this season turns out to be better than what happened in 2021, which was a total disaster for them.
A year ago, the expectations were quite high, but they came nowhere near close to reaching them. It was supposed to be them and the Dodgers competing for the NL West crown and only one of those teams ended up doing so.
With all that said, if they can figure out a way to play up to their ability, there is no reason to feel why they should not be a threat in the NL.
Clearly, a big loss in their lineup at the moment is Fernando Tatis Jr., but they have still shown the ability to be productive on offense in his absence in a short sample.
I know that they have a lot of big names and arms in their rotation, but I still have plenty of questions about them in that department and a good example of that is what happened in their 13-2 loss to the Giants on Tuesday.
Yu Darvish only lasted 1.2 innings, gave up 8 hits, and allowed 9 earned runs to SF. That is a pretty bad sign when he knows he is going to be seeing plenty of the Giants this year.
Sean Manaea, who was a good acquisition for this club, will look to get his team back on track when he gets the start on Wednesday.
San Diego knows that facing off with Logan Webb is no easy task, so they will do everything they can to knock him out and get to that bullpen.
San Francisco Giants
Even though the Giants played very well last season and won their division, there are still some folks that are doubtful of them this year.
On paper, they may not be as flashy as a team like the Padres or Dodgers, but I absolutely feel they could compete with either one of them for the West.
Even with Kevin Gausman in Toronto, I still like the rotation that this team has at the moment.
Carlos Rodon was a big addition to them and he had already shown what he can do for them in his first start against the Marlins.
In a division that will likely be very tight, these divisional games are so important. Yes, it is early, but that does not take away what these contests mean.
San Francisco will look to win the series with San Diego by taking care of business on Wednesday. If they can get to Manaea at least a little bit they should feel good about their chances.
In their win on Tuesday, Alex Cobb went 5 innings, allowed 2 earned runs, and struck out 10 batters. I did not necessarily expect him to have those kinds of results against that lineup, but maybe he can give this team some legitimate production this season.
Logan Webb, who is really emerging as one of the best arms in baseball, will look to keep this potent offense in check in the rubber match.

San Diego Padres vs. San Francisco Giants MLB Prediction:
This is a matchup between two very good teams and pitchers. It certainly is a bit tricky to predict this one.
For me, I give the edge to the Giants here. I feel they have the better guy starting and I like the fact they are playing at home.
I look for this to be a close one throughout and SF doing enough to get the job done.
Give me the Giants at -135 here.
