San Diego Padres

The Padres continue to struggle scoring and that is just killing them.  There are just two many games where they are putting up just 2 or 3 runs.  It is a positive that Wil Myers is back on the field but this is looking like a wasted campaign for him. He did hit 30 homers last year but definitely looks like a guy who will permanently remembered for his prospect status.

Eric Lauer is having a hit and miss rookie season.  He has had a few good games but he walks too many guys and rarely gets past a couple of times through the order. He has not faced Arizona in his career though so perhaps that will be to his advantage.

Arizona Diamondbacks

There is a lot to like about this Arizona team but I still wonder whether they will pull the trigger on a move that tilts things in their favour. It is great that Paul Goldschmidt has come alive but they could really use another big bat. Maybe Manny Machado or Josh Donaldson.

In his first couple of starts you can see how the stuff is still there for Shelby Miller. 11 Ks in 8 innings is nice but the command is not there overall.  Three homers over just two starts is not going to cut it and he is going to have to start showing more or else the Diamondbacks are going to have to find another role for him. Facing San Diego could help.
