Hyun-Jin Ryu got the best of the Pirates on Friday night in the opening game of this series in a 6–2 Dodger win.
Ryu got in trouble in each of the first two innings but the Pirates could only muster one run. The Dodgers, on the other hand, capitalized early to give Ryu a lead. He ended up going seven strong, giving up two runs, and earning the win.

Trevor Williams is the guy to go on Sunday, though. He’s turned in a quality start in all five of his trips to the mound this season and has been better than quality for longer than that. Since the middle of July last season, he owns a 1.67 ERA. That’s a run of eighteen starts.
Los Angeles Dodgers
The Dodgers sure helped Ryu on Friday by scoring two in the bottom of the first after their starter gave up one in the top. The two runs came courtesy of Cody Bellinger, who launched his thirteenth home run of the season with two outs and a man on in the first.
After that freaky rookie season, Bellinger only hit twenty-five home runs with a 120 OPS+. For him, it was a disappointed in his sophomore season. A fast start to 2019 could be just what he needs to break out in year three.

Welcome back to Rich Hill, who makes his first start in what is the final year of the three-year deal he signed with the Dodgers at the ripe age thirty-six. He’s thirty-nine years old now and will look for a third year pitching above league-average.
Hill took a small step back with just a 107 ERA+ last season after posting 125 in his first full season as a Dodger. He’s only gone 135 innings in each season and will probably just be happy to reach that mark again the third time around.
