Pittsburgh Pirates
Pittsburgh didn’t score in its series finale against the Diamondbacks and lost its fifth game in a row, 5–0. Zack Greinke went seen innings and gave up just two hits. The Pirates have fallen behind both the Cardinals and Cubs in the NL Central.
The good news is that Joe Musgrove will go in this game. He’s got an ERA down in the mid-1s with a WHIP under 0.85. He’s only 1–1 in five appearances, though.

Starling Marte and Corey Dickerson are both out. Marte will probably be back sometime in the middle of next week; Dickerson will remain out perhaps a little longer, but not much.
At least Gregory Polanco is back. He got two knocks in each of his first two games back before an 0-for-4 on Thursday in the shutout.
Los Angeles Dodgers
Clayton Kershaw’s numbers are just fine through two starts this season. He’s still looking for his first win but he’s thrown thirteen innings and given up four runs with one K per frame. He’ll start this game on Saturday before Rich Hill comes back to complete the Dodgers’ regular rotation on Sunday.

The Dodgers avoided a sweep in Chicago with a 2–1 win over the Cubs on Thursday. Ross Stripling got the first fourteen outs before coming out in the fifth. The Dodgers didn’t allow a run until the ninth after successful bullpen appearances out of Pedro Baez, Caleb Ferguson, and Joe Kelly.
