Pittsburgh Pirates
The Pirates completed a sweep of Milwaukee over the weekend. Those results were pretty surprising given they almost doubled their season win total in doing so, from four to seven. They are playing as well as they have all season.
The offense came alive scoring 24 runs over the three games and no less than 5 in each. Important cogs Kevin Newman and Colin Moran are questionable to start the week though. That just puts the pressure back on Josh Bell, who is struggling as much as ever.
Trevor Williams is far from elite but he has been the Pirates most effective starter this season, that is why you are hearing his name in trade rumours. As much as any pitcher he gives the Bucs a decent shot at a win.
Chicago White Sox
The White Sox are right there with Minnesota and Cleveland but while those teams play each other they have to use this series to their advantage. It is just a couple of game they are not going to get back at the end of the year.
Chicago is having a great offensive season this year. They are second in homers, second in OPS, 3rd in average and 8th in scoring. That actually implies a bit of bad luck perhaps. It is veteran Jose Abreu that has been leading the way, taking some of the pressure off the young guys.
The same goes for veteran lefty starter Dallas Keuchel, who has been the most effective pitcher for the White Sox this season. He does not have dominating stuff but by keeping the ball in the park and using his defense he is winning for them.

Williams may be the Pirates best starter but that is definitely a very relative term this season.
I think you have to take the White Sox in this spot. Their offense can overwhelm any opponent so there is a good amount of value on the run line here.
I am definitely not sold on the Pirates recent sweep of the Brewers as anything more than a blip. Do not get sucked in.
