Philadelphia Phillies
The Phillies are at the top of the NL East. However they got beat in the series opener and need to take advantage of the opportunity to fatten up on one of the worst team’s in the league. I keep waiting for the power to come with this group. They are 7th in runs scored but just 21st in homers. They can be a lot better than than. Paging Bryce Harper.

Vince Velasquez is coming off back to back bad outings. He has the stuff but still struggles with command and is at the point in his career where the light might never come on. He has much better numbers on the road though. The Philly bullpen has not been great so getting a nice outing from VV and an offensive explosion would be ideal. The value is solid too.
Kansas City Royals
The Royals mediocre offense and substandard pitching has landed them in last place in the AL Central. The thing is their hitting is likely to sink once Hunter Dozier cools and their pitching could get even worse. Put those together and the outlook is not very good. Speedster Adalberto Mondesi has also looked good though. He is a rarity leading the team in stolen bases and RBIs.

Jakob Junis was supposed to lead the rotation this season but that hasn’t happened. His peripheral numbers are about the same as a year ago but his luck has been worse I guess. Perhaps pitching for a really bad team instead of just a bad one is getting to him. The team is 4-4 in his starts though. The bullpen has been better than the starters with this season but that is all relative with that group.
