Unsurprisingly, Toronto is a considerable favorite in this one.
Oakland Athletics
A lot of people are not very high on this Athletics team and it is hard to blame them with the current roster they have.
It would really not surprise me if it was a long season for this group.
It is possible that they could go out there and surprise some people throughout the season, but that will be challenging to do. They play in a division that is very competitive as well as an AL that is loaded with talented teams.
Before this series with Toronto, Oakland took three games out of 4 against the Tampa Bay Rays. That is certainly a good sign for them that they had that kind of success against that team.
The offense was definitely locked in against the Rays, but they were very quiet on Friday in their 4-1 loss to Toronto. When you face a team of that caliber, scoring just a run is not going to get you many wins.
In the loss on Friday, Daulton Jefferies went 4.1 innings and allowed 2 earned runs. Considering the hitters he had to face, that is not a bad final line, but it hurts when you get no run support.
Paul Blackburn will get the start on Saturday and will look to contain this very powerful offense. He is 1-0 so far in this very short season.
The offense should be able to wake up when they face off with Ryu, who is not the same guy he used to be and is very hittable.
Toronto Blue Jays
Overall, I would say that it has been a solid start to the season for the Blue Jays. There is really no reason for me to feel why they would not have a strong season when all is said and done.
This has not happened in some time, but this season they were the favorite to win the AL East and it totally makes sense. When you go just based on the players they have, they are the best team in the division and could very well win it.
With that said, the Rays, Sox, and Yankees are all solid teams and will not just back down to Toronto. As is the case a lot, this division is going to be a buzzsaw.
Toronto just had a chance to take on the Yankees this week and they split a four-game set with them. In that series, they traded wins each time and the game was fairly close each time.
For as good of an offense as this team is, they did get shut out two times by New York. Granted they do have good arms, but they really should have been able to have more success against Cortes and Severino.
In their 3-0 loss on Thursday, Kevin Gausman looked very good out there but got no run support at all. Regardless, he showed why he is going to be a big pickup for this team.
Toronto did just what they had to do against the A’s on Friday and Ross Stripling was solid in that one. They will look to keep that going on Saturday.
Hyun Jin Ryu was not effective at all in his first start and he will need to be much better when he squares off with this Oakland team.

I look for Toronto to keep up their good play against a team they are just a lot better than at the moment.
This is one where I see a good amount of runs being scored. I would be surprised if it turned out to be a low-scoring affair.
Blackburn will have a helluva time slowing down this lineup and I am not sold on Ryu being able to be all that effective.
I like this one to go over the total of 9 here.
