Bolt was drafted in the 26th round out of high school but went to North Carolina instead. Last season, as a 24-year-old, he started at Double-A, got sent down, and then came back up. He began this season in Triple-A before getting the call.
Chris Bassit joined the rotation just two weeks ago and he’s made two starts, giving up one run and five hits in twelve innings so far. He struck out nine and walked none in his last start in Toronto but didn’t get any run support in a game Oakland eventually lost in extra-innings, 5–4.
