Oakland got swept in Toronto over the weekend and things didn’t get any better in Boston, another sweep. Those losses have dropped them down to last in the AL Central and whenver the A’s are there you start to wonder if they might be in the right spot. Neither pitching nor offense as in the top half of the league and you have to wonder if they might be an early seller.

Brett Anderson is never going to be the pitcher he was the first time he was in Oakland. He was OK for the A’s last year and absent better options they brought him back. His last start against the Jays was his worst outing of the season. Thankfully Pittsburgh is not a great lineup and no DH either so perhaps he can be better.
Pittsburgh Pirates
Pittsburgh took both is a short road series at Texas to get their record back to .500. The offense scored 13 runs over the two game and they need to keep that rolling because scoring has been the challenge. They have Starling Marte back in the lineup and now they need him to start hitting. When he gets on base with his speed he can be a real difference maker.

Joe Musgrove has been great this season, hard to hit with fantastic ratios. Sadly his 1.54 ERA has only translated into a 1-2 record. It is early and you have to think he will get a little more luck but there are always some pitchers who just can’t get wins no matter how well they pitch. The righties in the bullpen need to be a lot better, their lefties have been great.
