Oakland Athletics
Oakland and St. Louis each had 10 base hits on Tuesday night but the A’s made the most of their opportunities and won the game, 7–3.
Chad Pinder and Khris Davis each drove in two runs and only Matt Olson had multiple hits for the Athletics. Olson is just a fantastic player who gets such little fanfare because he plays in a small market. He’s the best defensive first baseman in the game by a ways and he’s got nearly a 130 OPS+ without really heating up yet.

Chris Bassitt didn’t even get out of the fourth inning but that Oakland bullpen, which hasn’t quite been as good as it was last season, held tough. Five guys navigated the last 5.2 innings without allowing the Cardinals to score.
Los Angeles Angels
Like the A’s, the Angels have a quick two-game series beginning on Tuesday and they won the first won, taking down Cincinnati, 5–1. The Angels, unlike the A’s, get to stay right at home after Wednesday.

The Halos had to find some arms in the middle of this season and they have with Griffin Canning. He’s been even a little better than dependable through his first ten starts of the season with a 117 ERA+ and a WHIP just a couple of hundredths over 1.00.
