I’m psyched for the first game of this series later tonight, as I write about game two already.
This pitching matchup is a rematch of game one of the series in Oakland last weekend, when the A’s nearly swept the Astros but couldn’t overcome Houston’s barrage of homers in game three.

Morton actually pitched slightly better than Jackson in that game on Friday night, but the A’s came back against Houston’s bullpen.

The very same could happen in this one, though it will be tougher for Oakland to stage a comeback against the relief pitchers of the Astros at Minute Maid Park.
Morton could only go five innings in that game because of a mounting pitch count. He got the best of most of Oakland’s batters but the A’s worked every at-bat, as they do.

Meanwhile, Jackson was great except for two solo homers in the middle innings. Keeping the ball in the park will only be a bigger challenge in Houston. For him, it’s key.
