The A’s are a super long shot but with their on Tuesday hey got back over .500, which is a nice level of accomplishment for this team. They continue to slug the ball with Khris Davis leading the way with 20 homers. They seem to make the most of their hits and the pitching has been pretty good.

Chris Bassitt did not pitch in the Majors at all in 2017. He has only made a couple of starts this season and he has been alright. He hasn’t won but if he maintains a .245 ERA that is likely to change. This is a good spot for him to get his first victory since 2015. Oakland is over .500 on the road this season.
Chicago White Sox
As this is being written the Pale Hose are on a six game losing streak and losing 3-0 to Cleveland, so let’s call it seven. No real surprise there other than that they are not in last place. This group strikes out a lot which makes it really hard to score other than by the home run and they don’t hit enough of those.

Lucas Giolito is a big guy with a big arm and a big ERA. It does not take much analysis to know what he has to do to get better – stop walking batters. He is second in the Majors in free passes issues and a rarity in that he doesn’t strike out more batters. The simple fact is that there are way too many guys on base when balls are put in play.
