Mike Fiers has been bad all season. Mike Fiers has a road ERA over 9 this season. He is not normally that bad but he is giving up so many hits and his walk rate is up and it seems like he is constantly in trouble. At Boston seems like the least likely place for a turnaround. Maybe he hits rock bottom and there is some value in the start after this one.

The Red Sox still need about two weeks of winning ball to be anywhere close to where they should be. There is no way this lineup should be 20th in scoring and the pitching has been a total letdown. They are 20th in homers as the order, save Mitch Moreland is badly underperforming. They are second in strikeouts as a staff but have an ERA over 5.00.

No starter being announced is never a good sign, especially so since everyone other than David Price has been getting hit really hard this season. I think this is Rick Porcello’s spot in the rotation but he has been bad so maybe they are thinking of skipping his turn or something.
