New York Yankees

The Yankees continue to impress.  Aaron Judge has gotten hot lately and even though he is below last year’s huge numbers he is not that far off the pace. This team definitely does not need more offense, but you are hearing lots of rumours abut them improving their pitching.

One of the reasons that is a need is because Sonny Gray has been bad. I think when they acquired him they say him as a #2 but since getting to the Bronx he has been anything but. He has been terrible at home to the tune of an ERA over 8.  At least that will not be a factor in this one.

Toronto Blue Jays

The Jays look to be out of the race but they the reinforcements – JA Happ and Josh Donaldson – that contenders need so they are at least semi relevant. Unfortunately Donaldson is still on the shelf but it hasn’t kept the Jays from being in the top ten in homers. Expect some fireworks from these two teams.

When the Jays were mapping out a plan of how they might compete in 2018 it did not include Sam Gaviglio in any way. At 2-2 with an ERA under 4 Gaviglio has certainly not been the problem but he does not have much upside and is essentially just a fill in.
