New York Yankees
Two losses in three games to Baltimore should be enough to motivate the Yankees to win the fourth and final game on Wednesday; otherwise, they are going to get it in the press and the Indians might be the opponent to pay the price.
Sonny Gray goes in the finale there. I assume Luis Severino will start this game, though the Yankees have not officially listed as a starter as of noon on Wednesday.

Severino has been elected to his second consecutive all-star game at the age of 24 and there’s an excellent chance he will start it, given that he will have proper rest and all the numbers to back up such a decision.
Severino has accumulated 5.0 wins above replacement already, trailing only Aaron Judge on the Yankees’ roster with chance to pass him in this start. He has 14 wins, as many as last season when he finished third in the AL Cy Young voting, and an ERA+ over 200.
Cleveland Indians
For Cleveland, Carlos Carrasco would be the starting pitcher on five days rest but Terry Francona has decided to bring him back on Wednesday against the the Reds, a game Cleveland has to win to avoid a bad sweep.
The Tribe was hot before it welcomed Oakland to town. The A’s lost the first game in Cleveland but won two in a row after that. Two more losses to Cincinnati has trimmed Cleveland’s comfortable lead in the AL Central down to 8.5.

Corey Kluber went after Carrasco in that series with Oakland, so he should be the one to oppose Severino here. Kluber would be the other choice for American League starting pitcher in the all-star game, along with Chris Sale.
But Kluber’s numbers are lesser than Severino’s in just about every category. This is his third consecutive all-star game after it took him a Cy Young and another top-10 finish before getting into just his first game.
