In the four full seasons since his rookie year, he’s started an average of 27.5 games per season and only had that one down year in 2017, when he finished with a 95 ERA+.
That seven-year, $155 million is due to expire at the end of next season and, frankly, it looks like a bargain now.
Arizona Diamondbacks
The Diamondbacks aren’t the most exciting team in the league but they are still winning games, at least they did in April. Torrey Luvullo is an excellent manager and Christian Walker has found a home in the desert.
Paul Goldschmidt’s replacement hit seven homers in April and posted a 155 OPS+. At twenty-eight years old, he’s no spring chicken but he’ll be eligible for National League Rookie of the Year votes.
