New York Mets

The Mets might have taken the final two games of their series against Arizona over the weekend but they are still floundering overall. They have the worst batting average in the Majors and their rankings in other offensive categories are hardly impressive. Scoring is a challenge.

Jason Vargas was terrible early but in his last four starts he seems to have turned a corner. He is never going to dominate or pitch deep into the game but he is at least giving them a chance to win ballgames now. Trips to Coors Field can be deadly though.

Colorado Rockies

The Rockies continue to spin their wheels, not taking advantage of a soft spot in their schedule over the weekend. This series against the Mets is another one and they are at home so they really need to play better. Their pitching has been atrocious this season and it it not just the park factor.

German Marquez has been pounded in his last three starts…quite simply he has to be better for them to have a chance this season. At home he has been downright terrible and when you look at his number you can see why the total is what it is.
