Minnesota Twins
The Twins got smacked in the series opener on Thursday night. They are also going to be missing some key bats over the weekend in Nelson Cruz, Jorge Polanco and Mitch Garver. Even though they have been so good perhaps this is the perfect time to fade them. Its not like Tampa is bad. They are the top scoring offense in the league when healthy but they just aren’t right now.

Kyle Gibson is coming off a strong start in his last outing but another reason to fade the Twins is that he is much better at home. Not terrible on the road but when you put this whole matchup together you can go away from him here. The bullpen has been good this season and they will work with whatever Gibson gives them.
Tampa Bay Rays
With the big win on Thursday the Rays pulled to within a half game of the Yankees. They scored 14 but Tommy Pham tweaked something and might not be himself for the rest of the weekend. That is a significant talent and attitude loss for sure. Austin Meadows continues to deliver though. He is batting .361 as this is being written and is becoming the star he was projected to be.

Yet another game where we don’t really know who will start for Tampa. We just know who it won’t be – Blake Snell or Charlie Morton. Probably not Ryne Stanek either, as he is the opener on Friday. My hunch is that it will be Yonny Chirinos. He has only made five starts for Tampa this season but the Rays are 4-1 when he gets the ball, 3-0 at home. In case you are not familiar he is a more traditional starting option.
