It is hard to imagine Kansas City not having a nice weekend series in Kansas City. Lots of favorable matchups for the Twins.
On the flip side, Kansas City is not having a good season and these games could be a low point. They might not be very competitive.
Minnesota Twins
Minnesota has been winning a lot of games early but it feels like they are doing it with only half of the lineup really contributing. Last year they were getting contributions top to bottom.
The guys they are looking to pick things up are on the corners in Miguel Sano and Josh Donaldson. Perhaps a lefty is just what the doctor ordered.
The only reason to hesitate on this one is that it is the first start of the season for Jake Odorizzi. He is a veteran though so he should know how to get himself ready.
Kansas City Royals
One shame of this season is that they might be wasting the best season yet of Whit Merrifield. His power is up this year, perhaps a result of starting in the warmer weather.
The offense has actually been middle of the pack so far and I kind of forgot that they picked up Maikel Franco in the offseason. He was a disappointment in the past but maybe he can shine now that the spotlight is off.
Danny Duffy has pitched pretty well this season. The team is 0-3 in his starts but in two of those they did not even score a run. On a better team he might be 2-1. I still do not like this matchup for him or the team though.
