Minnesota Twins
There was a common belief out there that the Twins could be better this season after having a down year in 2021. They have gotten off to a shaky start so far and I am curious to see if they can figure things out when all is said and done.
There is no question that they have some players in their lineup that will make them better on offense, but I am not sure how much of a difference that will truly make. They are still very from away from a true contender in the AL.
One major question that I still have with this group is their pitching. Their offense is going to need to do a lot of the heavy lifting because I am really not all too bullish on them on the other side of the field.
Although not great, they play in a division in which there are at least two teams better than they are. Sure, they could surpass Detroit, but being able to get past Chicago is a very tall order.
Minnesota split a four-game set with the Boston Red Sox before this series with Detroit. In the games where they won, the offense was very good, but they were held quiet on that side in the games they lost.
The Twins dropped game 1 of the series with KC by a score of 4-3. It was certainly a game they could have won, but they were not able to execute when it mattered most.
Chris Archer got the start on Tuesday and he went 4.1 innings and allowed 2 earned runs. The offense just did not do well enough in a spot where they should have been able to do so.
Joe Ryan will get the start for them on Thursday. Although he does not have a ton of experience in the pros, this kid looks like he is something special and is going to be fun to watch for years to come.
Kansas City Royals
It would not shock me at all if the Royals are on their way to nowhere once again this season. Really, why should I have a different opinion?
Yes, they do have some talented players on their roster and guys that could be a part of their future, but it is still hard for me to feel that they will be all that relevant in 2022.
Over the years, an issue with them has been their consistency. We all remember when they made two world series in a row and won one of them. However, since then, they do not have all that much to show for themselves which is certainly an issue for this franchise.
For them to get back to being competitive in the American League, they are going to have to get better on both sides of the field. As of now, their pitching and offense are not on the level that it needs to be for them to be all that much of a threat.
Currently, KC has a record of 4-5. When looking at their schedule, it is hard to be all that impressed by anything they have done so far.
Carlos Hernandez went 4.1 innings and allowed 3 earned runs in their last win. He did not go very long but was pretty effective while he was out there.
Zack Greinke will be called upon Thursday. He does not have a win or loss on the season but has done what he has had to do in his starts so far.
This will not be an easy one for these guys but it is one they should be able to take care of if they are on their game.

Minnesota Twins vs. Kansas City Royals MLB Prediction:
There is no question that both teams will be tested in this one. This is not one that is easy to have a feel for.
I expect KC to be competitive in this one and it would not shock me if they won the game outright.
For me, the 1.5 runs are too much to lay with these Twins team. Even with Ryan on the hill that is a tall task.
I like the Royals on the run line here.
