The Twins just continue to wear out whatever poor soul has to pitching against them, knocking 14 hits in a 6–3 win over Detroit.
Matthew Boyd did his best pitching out of constant trouble and gave up just three runs in seven complete innings, in part because he didn’t walk a single batter.

But the Twins’ offense is relentless and did it to the bullpen in the final two innings. Mitch Garver, Marwin Gonzalez, and Nelson Cruz all homered. Garver entered the game with a 1.070 OPS in what isn’t that small of a sample size anymore. Cruz is on his way to double-digit homers after missing nearly 25 games. Gonzalez has eight.
Kyle Gibson represents everything the Twins need in a starting pitcher: steady, consistent, and as close as a high-performing human can get to mistake-free. He’s 6–2 in 11 starts and should get his seventh win on Saturday.
Detroit Tigers
The Tigers haven’t even named a starter for this game and, as far as I’m concerned, if the Twins got to the Tigers with Boyd wriggling out of jams for seven innings, they are going to get to whoever Ron Gardenhire starts on Saturday.
Tyson Ross and Jordan Zimmermann are unavailable. Spencer Turnbull and Boyd have already taken their turns. Obviously, Matt Moore and Michael Fulmer are out of commission and won’t return this season. This one has potential to get ugly.
