The Brewers were one of the most interesting teams coming into the season. They have had a lot of recent success but this team is not traditionally constructed so it was going to be fascinating to see how they did in this sprint.
There was not nearly as much intrigue with the Pirates, nevertheless, they both come into this series off 1-2 opening series. This will be game two so somebody will be .500 and breathing a little easier for this one.
Milwaukee Brewers
One series is a small sample size but the Brew Crew neither hit nor pitched well over the season’s first weekend. That does not bode well.
Christian Yelicj has just one hit, a homer, but when he is not a threat this lineup gets pretty ordinary pretty fast. Justin Smoak has the only other long ball.
I am not sure what is really up with Josh Hader. The lefty is their most important pitcher and even though he is not on the injured list he has not appeared in a game yet.
Starter Josh Lindblom has not pitched in the Majors in a few seasons. There have been great successes from guys brought back from Japan and KBO but the jury is out.
Pittsburgh Pirates
The Pirates are very likely the worst team in the National League so a 1-2 start to the season is actually not that bad.
They are very limited on the mound but Derek Holland is at least an experienced MLB hurler. This is the first start of the season for the lefty.
Josh Bell is the only bat that you really need to be afraid of. Colin Moran can put the bat on the ball but he is not going to hurt you too badly.
Not a single starter has worked six innings yet so the bullpen has been getting plenty of work to start. The results have been mixed.

Lindblom is a total question mark but on the other hand Holland was signed to a minor league deal so it is not like the Pirates are sure about him either.
