Milwaukee Brewers
The Brewers defeated the Tigers on Wednesday to earn a split in the two-game series and had Thursday off to travel.
They are hanging around the .500 mark, which has them in the hunt for the expanded playoff format this season.
As a team, Milwaukee has just an 82 OPS+ and Christian Yelich (119) is the only starter better than average.
Corbin Burnes has been terrific on the hill, however. He leads the team with 1.0 wins above replacement and has a 167 ERA+ in over 32 innings of work.
He leads a trio of Milwaukee starters that average better than double-digit strikeouts per nine innings with 12.8.
Cleveland Indians
The Indians have five regulars in triple-digits, in terms of OPS+, which is to say five regulars are so far having better than average seasons at the plate.
However, Cleveland’s team mark is not much better than Milwaukee’s — just 87.
Cleveland has gotten next to nothing out of its catchers, Roberto Perez and Sandy Leon. It also has Carlos Santana hitting just above .200 and Jordan Luplow, who hasn’t had quite as many at-bats as Santana, hitting just over .100.
Carlos Carrasco was as good as he’s been all season the last time out against St. Louis.
He gave up just two hits along with two walks in six shutout innings. He didn’t factor into the decision in a game Cleveland eventually won, 2–1.
Free Milwaukee Brewers vs. Cleveland Indians MLB Prediction: under.
This game is going low. Not only are both offenses weak this season, the bullpens behind these two solid starters are strong.
