Milwaukee Brewers
The Brewers have been solid this season, but they have not played their best ball in their last multiple series.
It is not anything huge, but they have won two of their last three games and they will try and string together some more wins in a row in this Cincinnati series.
When you are a team like Milwaukee, the Reds are simply a team you need to be able to take care of business against. There really are no excuses not to play well in this series.
As we know, though, a win is never guaranteed regardless of who the opponent is. This club found that out when they faced off with the Nationals a little bit ago.
Even with their recent struggles, I still view this team as a good one in the NL and I would still expect them to be a playoff team and win the Central.
In their skid, the Cardinals have played very well, and St. Louis managed to take control of 1st place in the division. At the time, there is just one game that separates the top two teams in the division. If things keep up, it will likely be those two clubs battling it out for the division crown the whole season long.
The Brew Crew were able to take the first game of the series by a score of 5-4 and will need to have similar results again on Saturday. Things were a little closer than they would have liked, but the final result is the most important thing.
In their win on Friday, Eric Lauer went 6.1 innings and allowed 4 earned runs. After he left, the bullpen was able to do its job and secure the victory. Jason Alexander will be getting the start in game 2 and does not have a decision yet.
Cincinnati Reds
It absolutely has not been a good season for the Reds in 2022. It is going to be one long summer for this group.
When you look at how poorly this team started off the season, it is fair to say they have been a little better but it has not been anything great. Really, it just means they are no longer historically bad.
When I examine this team, there simply is not a lot they do well. When that is the case, it makes sense they have the record they do.
At the present time, Cincinnati is a team that does not have great pitching or a great lineup. Unless they go out there and make big changes to the roster, I feel they will continue to be a team that is not very good.
Despite this group not being overly talented, they still should be playing better than 18 games below .500. That type of record is just not acceptable.
Given who they have to play in their division and in the National League, it is fair to assume the rest of the season will be more of the same. It is hard for me to imagine them all of a sudden winning a lot of games.
On Friday, Hunter Greene went 5 innings and allowed 4 earned runs. He gave his team a chance to win, but it was not enough when all was said and done.
Graham Ashcraft will be getting the ball in this one and he has been impressive so far. He is 3-0 with an ERA of 2.22 and will look to keep that up in this one here.
MLB Baseball Betting Trends:
- The Brewers are 18-7 in their last 25 vs. the NL Central.
- The Brewers are 37-18 in their last 55 games vs. a right-handed starter.
- The Reds are 17-35 in their last 52 games vs. a starter with a WHIP less than 1.30.
- The Reds are 3-7 in their last 10 games vs. a right-handed starter.
Milwaukee Brewers vs. Cincinnati Reds MLB Prediction:
Milwaukee did just what they needed to do in the first game and I look for them to keep it up here.
I see this game being a close one at the end, but I have more trust in Milwaukee. They are the better and more complete team and I expect that to be put on display.
It is very rare that you would not see the Brewers as a favorite against the Reds this season, but I do like them here.
Give me the Brewers on the Moneyline.
