I thought Milwaukee’s offense was one of the best in the league, statistically, but it turns out I was wrong and that the Brewers’ success can be attribute to more of a balanced attack.
The Brewers’ OPS+ as a team is actually below average, despite four regulars being over 121. Orlando Arcia has hit .200 on the season so far, which has been a huge disappointment, but he hasn’t hurt the team too much yet.
Eric Thames had picked up where he left off last season before he went down with a thumb injury. The Brewers haven’t missed him too much, though, and it’s because Jesus Aguilar has stepped in and been just as good in his absence as the full-time first baseman.
Fresh off of another series win against an NL opponent, the Brewers get to try their luck against the worst the AL has to offer.
Chicago White Sox
James Shields looked strong in May. He’s went at least six innings in all six of his starts in the month and made it through seven in each of the last three.
He hasn’t been dominant in any of his starts, really. He’s giving up five or six hits a start and a couple walks, but there isn’t anything wrong with that. He’s striking out four, five six, somewhere there.
The story with Shields is the same it’s been his whole career: he’s going to compete. He didn’t start the season well but has settled in and may be at peace with the situation that he won’t compete for the postseason this year, but he can do what he can to give his young team a chance every time he gets the ball.
That is, unless he’s auditioning for a contender to make a deal for him at the deadline. He’s a free agent at the end of the season but he isn’t a cheap rental at close to $20 million this season. The White Sox would undoubtedly love to unload him for a prospect or two, though.
He could be an ideal target for a good team looking to just add another arm to the mix to help eat innings don the stretch and bring a winner’s mentality to a clubhouse that could use one.

Free Milwaukee Brewers vs. Chicago White Sox MLB Prediction: it stays close.
The White Sox will compete. I feel like this will be a close, mid-range game (in terms of scoring). That may not get you anywhere. I’d consider a play on the White Sox +4.5, though.
